Would you like a Job?
I’m a Prescott area Human Resource Manager considering a job blog for Yavapai County. Just wondering if there would be any interest in such things as what hiring managers look for when hiring an applicant.
I may even start my own consulting business if there is ample reply. But for now some of my comments are free!
What does a human resource manager do? Briefely, human resources (HR) managers handle personnel decisions, including hiring, position assignment, training, benefits, and compensation. Their decisions are monitored by upper management, but company executives usually recognize their experience and skill in assessing personnel and rely heavily on their recommendations. Most companies realize that the quality and quantity of their output is directly related to the quality and commitment of their personnel.
HR professionals make sure that solid matches are made between support staff and producers, between assistants and managers, and between individual coworkers to enhance productivity in support of the company’s business strategy and long-term goals. And all the while, they attempt to provide a satisfying work experience for employees.
If you were/are a job seeker, would some inside information be beneficial? I’m not trying to be arrogant but I know that some of the applicants I screen have no idea what it takes to get the “good” attention necessary to land a job. There are some very good people that live in this area that might benefit from this info.
Any comments?

I’ve recently begun sending resumes to employers in the Prescott area (including Yavapai County) but so far have received no responses. I am interested in any feedback that I can get — I believe that my resume is good, but am not sure it’s detailed enough for employers in the current job market.
